In an effort to strengthen community-based prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Women Development and Reliance Organization (WDRO), in collaboration with trained community volunteers, conducted a series of mobile GBV awareness sessions across targeted areas. These sessions aimed to raise awareness on the root causes, consequences, and available response mechanisms related to GBV. By utilizing a mobile approach, the outreach team was able to reach remote and underserved communities, ensuring inclusive participation and engagement.
The sessions focused on promoting community responsibility in prevention, encouraging survivors to seek support services, and fostering positive behavioral change. This approach has proven effective in building trust, disseminating life-saving information, and enhancing the visibility of GBV referral pathways. As a result, the activity successfully reached a total of 586 individuals across four different centers under Dhurwale Kebele, increasing awareness and strengthening community-level support for GBV prevention and response
