WDRO successfully completed the construction and full equipping of the Women and Girls Safe Space, creating a confidential environment for case management and support. Additionally, latrines and a security guard post were constructed at the Women and Girls’ Safe Space (WGSS) in Kebribeyah, Dhurwale town, Fafan zone. This critical infrastructure provides women and girls with access to clean, safe, and gender-sensitive sanitation facilities, significantly enhancing their hygiene, privacy, and overall well-being. By addressing the unique needs of women and girls, these improvements promote dignity, safety, and empowerment, creating an environment where survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) feel secure, respected, and free from stigma or judgment.

The addition of a dedicated security guard post further reinforces the safety of the space, ensuring that women and girls can access services without fear of harm or intimidation. These measures not only encourage greater utilization of the WGSS but also enable survivors to seek essential support, counseling, and assistance in a supportive and trusted setting. By prioritizing the needs of women and girls, this initiative contributes to fostering resilience, reducing vulnerabilities, and advancing gender equality within the community.

The WGSS serves not only as a case management space, but also provides multifarious services including but not limited to;

  • Skill development platform
  • Information dissemination
  • Psychosocial and recreational support
