WDRO provided critical Gender-Based Violence (GBV) case management to 30 girls and women at the Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces (WGSS) in Kebribeyah and Dhurwale towns, Fafan Zone. These services were uniquely designed to the individual needs of survivors, using a survivor-centered approach that prioritized safety, confidentiality, and empowerment.

Case management enabled the survivors to be treated with dignity and respect, providing a conducive environment where they were heard, supported, and empowered to rebuild their lives. Through the tailoring of interventions to each survivor’s individual circumstances, WDRO recovered the agency and resilience of survivors while reducing GBV’s short-term and long-term impacts. In addition to direct case management, WDRO also sought to improve the WGSS overall capacity to address GBV cases efficiently. This included staff training in survivor-centered principles, reinforcing referral linkages with community-based service providers, and having the safe spaces secured and available to all the beneficiaries The beneficial effects realized among the 30 girls and women reached between this time are a testament to the necessity for end-to-end GBV response systems. Survivors were empowered more, stigmatized less, and facilitated more to progress through recovery.

By addressing both the individual and structural challenges faced by women and girls affected by GBV, WDRO continues to be a critical driving force towards gender equality, reducing vulnerability, and more secure and equitable communities.
